Coming from United States to Spain have been a truly
inspirational trip for me in so many ways. During my trip in Spain, I
encountered an association called Erasmus Student Network (ESN) that helps
students like me acclimate to new experiences by providing and setting up events
such as tapas tours, activities like picnics and barbeques, and excursions
within the southern part of Spain. All of these events set up many
opportunities to interact with the fellow student body as well as have a taste
of the culture. Without this exceptional student organization, I would not have
enjoyed as much my experiences here in Spain. I have met with so many students
that go through what I am going through as well as students or advisors as I like
to call them, which helps me feel less alone and confused in new environment. Studying
abroad for me before I came was seen as a scary and independent experience at
the same time, but finding friends that I never thought I would have had kind
of makes the scary part less scary. For incoming students, who are thinking
about studying abroad in Spain, I implore you to consult within your home
university to help with grants and aid such as the Gilman scholarship and any
help with cost and then be opened to asking questions and receiving any
guidance without fear because the people that are here in Huelva for example
will no doubt be too happy to help.
